October Rose

October Rose

from “O Gather Me the Rose”

by William Ernest Henley

“O gather me the rose, the rose,
While yet in flower we find it,

For summer smiles, but summer goes,
And winter waits behind it.”

~~~
The last photo was taken on Sunday October 28th, with snow ringing in “winter time” (we set the clocks back an hour that night).
  1. A very beautiful rose and a lovely poem! There´s sadness in my heart to see the photo of this snow-covered flower… Winter time has come too early. Some roses are still flowering in my garden too… just as Echinacea purpurea, Cosmea and a blue bell-flower.
  2. Seeing your beautiful pictures took me back to summer for a minute! But alas, I saw the snow covering the rose and was snapped back to realizing winter is right around the corner. Such bittersweet beauty. We are turning our clocks back this weekend but our minds can be turned back by simply seeing a beautiful photo.
