Well, August has rolled in with incredible heat and humidity, and a terrific storm on Sunday, but it looks like it’s going to cool down a little in the next few days. I feel out of sorts in this hot weather, unable to work in the garden when I would like to, so I’m hoping for some “gardening weather” soon!
Have you had “gardening weather” recently?
And here’s another look back over the past 3 months, from May to the end of July….
Have a good week, whatever the weather!

It isn’t gardening weather here, much, much too hot! Interesting that the length of the shadows doesn’t change much but there is quite a change in the foreground planting.
I’ve already noticed the shadows getting longer over our patio though… at around 3pm there is shade from a large fir tree for a few minutes at this time of year!
We definitely haven’t had the heat here, although it’s far more humid than usual. Cool and grey again today, supposedly more rain on the way at the end of the week. It’s been great weather for weeding! 🙂
Good that you haven’t had the heat Sheryl. Unbearable! It is supposed to be subsiding today and tomorrow, with some thunder storms to see it out. Maybe I can do some real gardening at the weekend! 😀 (Happy weeding! 😉 )
Hi Cathy, I like the review 🙂
Thanks Uta. I like to see all the pictures together too. Have a nice week!
The first thing I always notice in your garden, in any season, is so much green! Our green isn’t quite that lush. 🙂 Fortunately for us, so far, summer has been very mild. We can frequently get the extremes of heat in September and early October, so we aren’t home free yet! But I have been able to work in the garden more than would be typical this time of year. I hope you get a break in your heatwave soon. I am sure it’s a challenge when you want to get your fingers dirty. 🙂
The forecast is positive…. storms until Friday and then temperatures in the 20s for a while. I can certainly breathe out then! Usually our extreme heat is over by mid August anyway, but last year was very hot until the end of the month. Let’s hope your summer continues to be mild and not too hot to be outdoors. 😀
no proper gardening weather but i’m working outside anyway and sweating my little heart out…but then, i shan’t complain as i love a proper summer .)
Yes, it has been a good summer for many. I am definitely a spring/autumn type though!
love looking back Cathy at the changes, and yes we’ve had some gardening weather, not a lot. I’ve been going to the allotment very early in the morning, making a mad dash around watering and picking and then staggering home to avoid the heat of the day 🙂 Love it though because everything seems to be growing well!
It seems to be a better year for you than last year with all that rain you had. But just a little too warm for me this year. Mustn’t complain as my tomatoes are doing well too! And three courgettes will be stuffed this evening! 😀
Lovely photographs. Actually we’ve had over a week of very cool weather, extremely unusual for August.
Thanks Jason. Maybe nice for you to have a breather, and good for the plants too.
Yes, out of sorts is exactly it. Its been much hotter than normal here too, but very early this morning there was almost an autumnal chill following the heavy rain last night. Is your heatwave unusual for Bavaria?
The fact that all of July and August have been so hot IS unusual. There is often a very hot period early summer and then it doesn’t usually get hot again until August. We had a few cooler (upper 20s) days that also felt autumny, but the autumn chill is something I shall look forward to… my favourite season!
This is the first evening for a long time Cathy where I’ve felt in need of a cardi or a fleece. Definitely cooling down here and gardening weather. Have plans to sort out the allotment this week 🙂
I’m looking forward to feeling chilly…. although I may regret having said that! It’s supposed to be cooling down at the end of this week. Gardening plans are the best sort – enjoy your “sorting out” at the allotment. 😀
I love your Tuesday at Two posts! Great to look back over the weeks too! It’s a bit cooler here now, which is really nice. Sunday was a wonderful morning in the garden but then the rain came along in the afternoon. That’s the main problem we have here really – too much rain! Although I just think to myself “it’s watering the garden” and that helps me get over it!! Hot days are for relaxing and enjoying a shady spot in the garden, not for working 🙂
Well, I managed to get a couple of hours gardening done this morning as it was hot but overcast. I do the same when it rains… just tell myself it’s good for my plants! Haven’t had enough recently though!
Nice pictures Cathy! When you look at them one next to the other you can see the changing colour of the grass.
It’s a little greener this week – the rain came just in time. I’m amazed how the few showers we’ve had have rejuvenated the garden.
It’s fun to look back through the phases of your view. Still a bit hot for gardening to excite me but must buckle down and get some weeds out soon.
We had rain yesterday – wonderful! But I expect I’ll be weeding again soon too now! 😉
Great idea to present it like this!
Best regards
Dina
I’m glad you liked it. Comparing the weeks as they go by is fun!
Love seeing the progression….my garden weather is great but I have no time due to work as weekends are consumed with work as well to meet deadlines.
Hope you get time to at least enjoy your garden after work Donna. 😀
