Tuesday View (15th April)

“April showers bring May flowers”

A very quick post today, and a slightly different angle too… I admit I forgot it was Tuesday until the light started to fade!

(Although it has been this dull most of the day. And cold, and showery…)

TuesdayView15thApril

Here’s another saying for April – a German one:

A cold and wet April will fill the barns and beer barrels!

April kalt und nass fΓΌllt Scheuer und Fass.”

Oh well, we can’t have it all! πŸ˜‰

Have a good week!

    • This morning is very cold Christina – just above freezing – but the sun is shining and the sky has whispy clouds. Looks promising! Hope you get some sun too. πŸ˜€

  1. I find the cold in April makes me miserable, more than any other time and I am not sure why, but I can appreciate the saying! I expect you were glad of the rain though and I like the different angle.

    • I can understand that – we were spoilt by such a warm spell and now the cold has returned. I’m just hoping those sayings are true! πŸ˜€

  2. oh Cathy, your garden is looking great, love all the colors, shades of green and the beautiful blooms! Looks like you are already cutting grass!! The grass is really green and looks great, nice place to walk barefoot! πŸ™‚

    • The grass has already been cut a few times, but our current cold spell is slowing things up – thank goodness! Spring happens too quickly!

  3. Even in the rain, your garden is beautiful. Love the yellow foliaged plant – it really lightens things up. And you have lots of blooms. They will appreciate the rain!

    • The rain certainly is welcome. That yellow foliage is a Euonymous and has been beautiful this spring due to our mild winter. If it’s really bitter it loses most of its leaves and takes a while to regenerate.

    • Hi Pauline. Glad you’ve got some nice weather, and hope it stays for the holiday weekend. We have had very typical April weather, with a few very cold nights (frost yesterday) but warm and damp days!

  4. I have a problem, Cathy. I want the green and beautiful garden in your photo, and I don’t know that I really want to give up all the sunshine. LOL! What? It doesn’t work that way? Well, your garden view is beautiful, and it doesn’t look like it rained too hard. Perfect!

    • I can understand your quandary Debra. Although I love sunshine too, I don’t enjoy the heat in summer! LOL! It is wonderful watching the trees on the surrounding hills here slowly turning lovely shades of green, and then I am grateful for the rain. πŸ™‚

  5. Nice to see a different angle on the Tuesday view – the variegated leaves look really bright and cheerful. Hope your week gets brighter and warmer!

    • Thanks Sarah! We had blue skies today, but still a cold wind… typical April weather. One minute it’s too warm and the next it’s freezing! Have a lovely weekend and hope it’s sunny for you too!

  6. Love it! πŸ™‚ Hope you are well and loving spring. Water is now within it’s banks here shoulder coming along as well as my seedlings under the grow light in the bedroom πŸ™‚ still one month till we can put in a proper garden this year I will grow in containers and heal πŸ™‚

  7. There’s nothing wrong with a well stocked beer supply, May flowers and such are nice, but a good beverage always makes their enjoyment all the more merry.
    Have a great weekend!

  8. I like the different view, and I have to admit, would also rather like some rain! It is getting terribly dry here at the moment, I am going to have to water the trees tomorrow. Never happy, us gardeners!

    • The showers this past week have done a world of good and the garden has changed so much already! Hope you get a drop too Janet… gentle warm rain, overnight! πŸ˜‰
